It is now well known that Ioannis Mandafounis likes to involve his audience. In his latest creation, ‘A Land Within’, he takes it one step further: the audience can move freely through different spaces at their own pace. Each location has its own identity, atmosphere, function and vitality, each of which lends the dance a special quality. In Dresden, for example, the Festspielhaus HELLERAU and in Frankfurt the Bockenheimer Depot will be performed in various rooms.

As the audience moves freely between the locations they travel through the personal emotions and states of each performer. This dreamlike journey is an invitation to explore a mosaic of stories that fan out the many facets of what it means to be human.
