Dancing is magic. In my body it feels transportational and transformative even though you remain in the same place. Sharing this with an audience or another body makes it feel even more magic – like if you were to discover a mythical beast when walking in the forest. At the same time, dancing is very simple. It doesn't always feel so big and glittery and it doesn't have to. Dance is so much and is evolving alongside me like a lover or a friend.
Daniel Myers received his training at the Royal Ballet School and the English National Ballet School in London. Most recently, he was a member of the Hessian State Ballet. Immersing himself in the worlds of different choreographers as part of the artistic processes has brought out diverse sides of his own expression. All the creations he has worked on have left a mark on his body and mind as a dancer. In particular the collaboration with Xie Xin gave him access to physical and mental possibilities that he had not fully realised before. He is still grateful today for the rollercoaster of growth and discovery that followed this encounter.
