Hands, feet, the whole body transform the clay. Landscapes are formed, along with fantastic figures, creatures and much more. All of life is in motion – nothing remains as it is. Children grow up, caterpillars become butterflies, night turns into day. This brings a few surprises, arouses curiosity – and sometimes a bit of fear.
“Wandeln” (Changing) is all about how things are transformed: in nature, in relationships, in each person’s growth and development. Katja Erfurth creates images that are intuitive for children big and small. The result is a poetic work of music and dance theater that vividly explores a changing world of emotions.
Katja Erfurth
Ever since studying at the Palucca University of Dance, dancer and choreographer Katja Erfurth has been fascinated by the convergence of the arts. She therefore incorporates live music, artifacts, props and other materials into her choreographic and dance vocabulary, discovering diverse forms of artistic expression along the way.
After dancing for several years at the Semper Opera in Dresden, she has worked as a freelance dancer and choreographer since 1997. She has created numerous solo dance productions, among other pieces. She has a special passion for dance theater and for projects geared towards audience members big and small. Following its premiere in 2013, her piece “Käthy im Wunderland” (Käthy in Wonderland) was performed over 70 times. In 2020, she received the Art Prize of the State Capital of Dresden.
